Nicoa Coach:

sometimes don't you just need a quick moment of inspiration? Or maybe you just need a moment of caffeinated contemplation to reflect on life. That's the idea behind my weekly coffee with Nicola espresso shots. I'll be sharing short jolts of inspiration in each clip. In addition to my longer Coffee with Nicoa interview episodes, make sure to subscribe so you never miss an espresso shot, or a full length Coffee with Nicoa interview created just for you. Hey, guys, it's Nicoa This is your weekly espresso shot. I'm coming to you from the banks of Whiskey Creek, as usual, although, in a few weeks, I'll be headed to Spain, sailing in the choleric sea. I have no idea what that means yet, but when I get there, don't you worry. I'm going to be filming, interviewing, having the time of my life. Yoga. And week two. Yeah, you heard me right. Week two. My husband joins me. It'll be a couple's week on the sailboat. All right, but I digress. Yet do I really because today's topic is all about being your authentic self. And if you guys know me, and if you're new year, guess what? I don't hold back. I'm as authentic as I come. And I just want to share with you something I just posted. So I am doing my best all this social media stuff, guys. But I came across that song that says it's the song that I don't know who sings? Huh? I know some of you listening are like you do this to us all the time. But go to my Instagram and you'll see a reel that I posted. And it has the point of view. Oh, here it is. Can I even play this? Okay, so it doesn't tell me. But she's got style, she's got grace, she's a winner, she always knows her place. She's the kind of girl you take to dinner. All right now, I did put this music over a really fun video of me coming through the slide. So at the at the pool, so I, I wanted to take it, because I wanted to make a point. And so I want to make that point on an espresso shot today. So here we go. I can't help myself, I have to share. So here's my point. Are you letting down your hair? Are you letting down the guard? Are you letting down the mask that you've been wearing? That causes you to hold back? Do you really try to know your place in society? Or are you actually authentically showing up the way you should be showing up your true self? You do remember who she is right? That younger version of you, the girl that sees the giant tube slide at the pool and thinks oh yeah, I'm doing that before the day is out? Oh, yeah. And probably a couple of times, you should have seen me the first day we were at the pool. And I was like, oh, we gotta go to the slide, we gotta go to the slide. Have we gone? We haven't gotten to the slide yet. By the time we got to the slide, guess what, it was closed. I was just heartbroken. But not to worry, we came back the next day. And I went down quite a few times. Because I live in that state of authenticity. Now. You know, the, I want you to remember that version of you the authentic version of you, the version of you that likes to laugh out loud and tell jokes and wear what you want, and doesn't care what people think of you. Don't forget about that version of you that younger version of you that the way you were born into this earth onto this earth is a version of you that says, hey, I'm supposed to be here, I'm gonna cry really loud when I want attention. And I'm gonna scream when I want to get my way. And I'm not telling you to be rude and inappropriate. There are you know, societal norms and expectations here. But I want you to pause and think about how you're actually showing up in the world. And if you've lost that authentic version of you, have you lost that little girl, that little boy and you that really used to love to play and didn't worry. I want you to see that version of you. I want you to truly think back. Do you have some sort of preconceived notion now that you have to show up in a certain way to be accepted by others? Sure, there are games to be played sure there's a way that we're supposed to behave. But it doesn't mean you have to lose that authentic version of you. Yeah, you know, I remember. I know how it feels to wear the mask and to stay buttoned up. And you know, I've been there I played that game really well in the corporate world. And I had to have just the right amount of volume the appropriate chuckle here and there, the buttoned up professional version of me, who didn't always speak the truth in the face of a bunch of bullshit. yet, believe me, there were times where I wished in those corporate board meetings that I could just scream. You know, I remember after I quit that corporate job, someone asked me, you know, Nico, what tell us? What does it feel like, you know, how do you feel after leaving that corporate experience? And I paused and I thought about it for a minute. How does it feel? Wow. I said, I feel free. I feel like I've been living in a state of restraint for 17 years. And you know what, guys, that's why I'm sharing this espresso shot. Because I don't ever want to live in a state of restraint. Again, I want to give myself permission to be my absolute wild, authentic self. And sometimes, that isn't what you might want me want. That isn't what you might want. From me when you're around me. And I'm okay with that. I may not show up for you the way you wish I would. And that's okay. Now, I'm not telling you I'm about to, you know, branch out and just be a wild woman that doesn't care what other people think or feel. Because, listen, my way of authentic living and being is very clear to me, I am aligned to a strong set of values. I know what matters most to me. And I've done the work to really clearly align my way of being to those values. And that includes kindness and generosity and love. But let me be very clear. It also includes unapologetic joy, abundance, and over the top excitement and enthusiasm and loudness and oh, by the way, truth telling, if I don't want to do something, I'm pretty much gonna tell you. And I won't make up some bullshit lie, excuse my French today about why I can't or won't or don't want to do something. I think you're grown, you can handle it. And I want you to look around and find that version of you really start observing yourself. When are you inside the version of you that gets up every day and goes about your day? The one that goes to work the one that goes and acts appropriate in the grocery store and doesn't actually run and jump on the back of the car like you know, you want to? Yeah, that was me in the in the parking lot the other day. That authentic version of you. Have you lost her? Have you refound her? Do you remember her or him? Spend time today thinking about what an unrestrained Wilder version of you would look like? And how does that version of you make you feel? Live by design, my friends. It's time to have some fun, unapologetically. Thanks for listening. Make sure to subscribe so you never miss an espresso shot or a full length Coffee with Nicoa interview created just for you.
