Nicoa Coach:

sometimes don't you just need a quick moment of inspiration. Or maybe you just need a moment of caffeinated contemplation to reflect on life. That's the idea behind my weekly coffee with Nicola espresso shots, I'll be sharing short jolts of inspiration in each clip. Hello, hello, it's Nicoa coming to you from the banks of Whiskey Creek for your weekly espresso shot. Today, I want to talk about rituals. And we all have them. Sometimes we don't even realize we have them. So today, as a matter of fact, I was reflecting on a ritual that I just recognized as a ritual a few weeks back, when I was sharing with someone how I have this habit of going to the mailbox every day. And by the way, I love going to the mail. I love getting my mail. So I go to the mailbox. And on days when I can, I like to sit in one of the two Adirondack chairs I have by my hammock in the side yard. And I look out over the water of Whiskey Creek, and I open the mail. And I do so in a very traditional or ritualistic way. So I noticed all the mail, I keep a stack of the junk mail, I always tear it in half as well. I don't know why someone one of my kids asked me, Why do you tear the mail in half, if you're not going to read, that's it's good, that's trash. And then I have another stack of mail that needs to go inside the house to go to my desk or go to John or one of the kids. So I sit there though very comfortably enjoying the breeze enjoying the view while I enjoy my mail. Now, a lot of people hate the mail. Even today, I had a client say I hate the mail, I hate the bills, because you have to pay them. And I really don't look at my relationship with mail and bills the way they do. So we talked about that. And I said, Well, we don't have to pay them, we can choose to pay them. And it might be a lot less burdensome, right? And she said, You're right, because when I choose to pay them, then I'm I'm connecting the dots between paying the bill that enables my life by design. And I really reflected a long time on that. And I was like exactly right, when I'm at choice about a bill, I'm at choice about creating the outcomes that that bill enables. And I'm also sitting in a space of gratitude. So this ritual that I have Foster's that gratitude and fosters like energy attracting like energy. So if I can be happy about my mail, then I'm much more likely to be happy about the obligations that that mail requires of me. And then as I and I do this every time I write thank you on any hardcopy mail that comes that requires me to pay it. And I just write thank you, even if I'm about to crumple it up and put it in the trash. Because I know I know, like I know, like, I know that any energy that I put out there that's positive is more likely to create more positive energy flowing into my life. And so I really looked at the ritual of doing that of going to the mail, I literally get excited when the mailman is Oh, the mail person game, I'm gonna go get the mail. Plus, I can see the mailbox from my office window. So when the UPS guy comes or the FedEx guy comes, yeah, it takes very little to entertain me. Although getting things in the mail and packages, I think is a big deal. It's a big part of my abundance experience living on this planet. So what other rituals are we actually practicing, that can continue to foster a life by design that you don't need a vacation from. So I sat back and I thought, Well, like I said, they're very personal, these rituals. So my set of rituals don't necessarily need to be yours. Now we do a lot of online, you see people here, the top four things you need to do every morning in order to be successful. Bullshit, excuse my language, but forget it. Quit looking at everybody else's rituals and create your own. That's the type of ritual that's going to get you more traction and more fulfillment in your life. So maybe you'd like to get up in the morning and have a cup of coffee. Maybe you like to sit outside, maybe you'd like to stay in the bed for another hour. Maybe a ritual could be as simple as you always use a certain kind of pen or pad or paper. When you're at your desk. Maybe they're your favorite ones. Maybe a ritual is always getting dressed even though you work from home. Instead of wearing your pajamas to your office. This is actually one of my rituals. The pin one is also one of my favorites. But these are things that make me happy Guys, I even like this is silly. But I remember once in high school, I was a cheerleader. And this may be TMI, but I remember one of my peers. We were getting dressed for an event and she had matching underwear. Her bra matched her underwear. And I thought, Oh, well, that's nice. That seems fancy. And ever since I saw her in her matching underwear, I remember thinking, I want matching underwear, I want to always wear matching underwear. No, I don't always wear matching underwear. But when I can, I do try. So these are little small things that make me happy. You know, you can even come up with rituals for your family, like no phones at the table, like we always sit together. And maybe there's a game after dinner, whatever it is, that makes you feel good. But what we do know about these rituals, which is why so many people are touting them and saying follow these five steps, is because these rituals do create a life by design that you don't need a vacation from rituals, like making your bed rituals, like always calling your mom on a Sunday, whatever the ritual is, start looking for them in your life. And if you don't have very many, start creating them, and create only create the ones that make you happy. And you may have to do a lot of trial and error. But I promise you, if you can create some rituals and things that are just your style, just what you do, then you're going to really find greater satisfaction in your life. So I send you off, find some ritualistic rituals, and let me know please send messages because I love hearing back from you guys. Thanks for listening.
